The wife and I went to visit my brother this weekend after his move last week.  Decided to break out the a7rii after not using it for a couple months to capture some new views.  After juggling settings and getting reacquainted, the first capture reminded me how amazing this camera is.  And paired with the 40mm Voigtlander, setting the lens wide open in low light still produces outstandingly sharp images.

The windy road up had plenty of stops for us to admire the landscape.  Sunset was beautiful this weekend, I had to stop and take a quick snap at every opportunity. I had this urge to shoot everything wide open.  The f/1.4 isn't something common I have in my bag lately, so I took advantage of it.  Not too big on lens technicalities, but I've noticed that sharp sweet spot when wide open beyond a 4 foot focal distance.

The tonal range the a7rii produces is insane!  I still can't comprehend how well this camera performs in low light conditions.  It definitely isn't an a7s/a7sii, but honestly, I can live with making adjustments in post, bringing out structure and sharpness of the image.

We finally made it up after a prolonged 45 minute drive.  The view was gorgeous just after sunset.  The colors were so rich, I couldn't help but stop and admire.
