Olympus OM-D E-M1

What a beautiful Sunday!  I can't express how happy I am for these two and their exciting future together.  What blows my mind is putting into perspective how long I've known Eric.  You can only respect watching a boy grow into a young man making grown man decisions.  And when one can admit that his other half makes him a better person, that relationship can only be stronger.

Now for some camera talk. I haven't used the E-M1 for event shooting, but I thought why not take advantage of this little beast with the all-star lens.  The 12-40mm (24-80mm equivalent) f/2.8 constant keeps everything simplified; no lens change needed.  The E-M1's snappy autofocus helped out tremendously, despite the harsh early afternoon light.

Camera set at the usual; AV priority, highlight metering instead of shadow, and ISO 200-400.  Since the warmth the E-M1 produces seems to be consistent, I tend to keep white balance at Auto.

So the outcome?  Pretty damn satisfied.  Images turned out organic and in the moment.  Back then, for any hired event, my go to would have been my Canon 5dii and a Speedlite.  Going forward, this E-M1 can easily do the job.

And of course, another congratulations to Juli and Eric.  Cheers to your happy future together!  May love be your light... and as I like to say, don't sweat the small shit.
